On January 29, 2021, a Salt Lake Zwick Construction reached the substantial completion of The Commons at Kimball Junction. The mixed-use structure is located in Park City, UT and was completed on a quick schedule.
The complex is a three-story building with two levels of residential space and one level of shelled retail space, to be built out by future tenants. In total, there are 38-units, some of which are three-bedroom apartments and some are studio apartments.
The Commons is designed to be affordable housing and is actually the first of its kind in the Park City area.
Near the beginning of the project, the Zwick team discovered an unknown storm-drain that ran through the corner of the property. This discovery caused a slight schedule delay and required the rerouting of the storm-drain, but through careful planning, the team was able to make up the lost time.
As with most current projects, COVID-19 has made material procurement more difficult. With creative scheduling and foresight, the team was able to get the supplies they needed in a timely manner.
Notwithstanding those setbacks and the sometimes harsh weather of the mountainous surroundings, Zwick was able to deliver the projects in just over 15 months. The project officially began in October 2019.
Congratulations to the project team for their dedication in working closely with the owner and delivering this project.
