Continuing with the south Salt Lake City redevelopment efforts, Slate Apartments, a Zwick Construction project, started welcoming new residents to the area over the past few months.
This beautiful complex, located on 900 South and 200 West, was designed specifically to match the artistic and historic neighborhood. Congratulations to the project team on this exciting delivery!
Slate Apartments is a five-story, 150-unit complex with studio and one- and two-bedroom apartment layouts. Residents have access to a fitness/exercise room, spa, conference rooms, clubroom, massage area, outdoor courtyard, storage, individual balconies, a theater, pet washroom, and ground-level parking. The building also features three commercial areas that will be leased in coming months.
Slate’s exterior facade is comprised of brick and shiplap. Uniquely, the owners requested beautiful murals to be painted on the west side of the building. Those murals display roses, reflecting the neighborhood's history of growing beautiful, large roses over the past decades.
Outside the usual complexities of multifamily construction, Slate Apartments had an extra layer of difficulty due its location; the property wraps around an existing tenant on three sides. Slate’s property lines reach within inches of the historic building. To protect that tenant, teams took extra precautions. For example, rather than excavating the foundations like typical projects call for, they installed 50-70 foot geopiers.
Thanks to everyone involved in this delivery.
